This past Sunday we were focused on what makes our life intriguing. Why would someone who is not a follower of Jesus be attracted to our lives?
We worked through the above passage to establish the types of things which ought to characterize a Christian's life:Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.” But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. (1 Peter 3:8-17 NIV)
- Like Minded
- Sympathetic
- Brotherly Love
- Compassionate
- Humble
- Blessing our "Enemies."
- Getting to know people who are "opposite" in political/religious views
Ultimately, our lives will be attractive and intriguing when we learn to live with a grateful and Godly attitude. When we speak words of blessing instead of complaints and cursing others, and when our behavior looks different than the world.
And NONE of this will happen unless we are becoming more and more like Jesus. He is at work in us if/when we allow Him to be Lord and to transform us by His Spirit.
How is your life? Is it one that intrigues others?
Together, as we stir up one another, I believe we can be much more effective in reaching others with Jesus!
Be Blessed and Walk in His Grace,
PK
